Mauricio graduated with honors from the Private University of Santa Cruz de la Sierra. He earned a Master of Laws (LLM) from Columbia University in New York, specializing in International Commercial Arbitration and Investment Arbitration.
Directly advising one of Bolivia’s major oil and gas firms, Mauricio played a key role in the negotiation team for new operating contracts with the Bolivian government, totaling $610 million. Throughout this process, he participated in the legal audit of 24 risk-sharing contracts for the exploration and exploitation of oil blocks.
In his professional practice, Mauricio has been highly active in mergers, contributing to the drafting of purchase agreements and the acquisition of four major construction companies by a New Zealand conglomerate. He was also involved in the merger of an Australian mining group and its subsidiaries in Bolivia.
Mauricio is a member of prestigious institutions such as the Bar Association of Bolivia, Bar Association of Santa Cruz, Columbia Alumni Association, Columbia Latin American Business Law Association (2008, treasurer), and the International Bar Association. Since 2004, he has been part of the Executive Committee of the Bolivian American Chamber of Commerce Inc., based in New York (USA).
He has served on various boards and acted as a trustee for several Bolivian companies, including Compañía Eléctrica Central Bulo Bulo S.A., Cascada S.A., Carbogas S.A., and Ferroviaria Oriental S.A. Additionally, Mauricio has authored numerous articles in national and international legal journals.
